I was watching Consequences tonight and suddenly it hit me: Dean = Faith and Sam = Buffy.
Unlike Faith though, I doubt Dean will lose it because he has Sam. Dean loves Sam, needs him, feels the need to protect him. Sam is his anchor. He keeps Dean from losing his humanity. Faith didn't have that. Buffy tried to help her but when things went bad Faith pushed Buffy away and turned on her.
