Watched the first episodes of Oz and SVU tonight. I decided I'm gonna watch all the Oz episodes again and review them here on my journal. Whether or not I actually do it is another thing but I do have a review of episode one.
"The Routine"
This is one of my least favorite episodes of Oz. I think it's because the focus is on Dino Ortolani who I hate. He was such a prick! I'm glad they killed him in the first episode.
Hello Miguel. *stab* Goodbye Miguel.
You know I like cocky "overthrow the system" Said. He was much more charismatic in season 1 than in subsequent seasons. I love when he told Warden Glynn he ran the prison now. And Glynn's response: "Don't fuck with me, my brother."
Poor Beecher, shoulda stayed with Adebissi. He would have been raped but he probably wouldn't have had to go through the psychological torture that Schillinger put him through. And he wouldn't have a swastika burned into his ass.
Dino Ortolani (hitting on Gloria)-"I was faithful to my wife on the outside by choice. In here I don't have a choice. Or do I?"
Gloria-"No choice. No chance."
*LOL* Ah Gloria, you rock.
Sister Pete's discussion with McManus about Ortolani's conjugal visit - hilarious! This is why I love her.
Of course I have to talk about my Ryan. I just love him in this episode. So cocky and swaggering and sexy! Such a bad, bad boy! The lord of the fucking dance from day one. And damn but he looks good in that prison uniform.
Ewww Gloria and McManus dating bothers me. Icky. I will never understand how McManus nailed so many women. Does he have some secret charm that they hid from the audience? I mean I don't find Christopher Meloni particularly attractive but I will admit that Keller was extremely seductive and I can see why so many people were into him, but McManus? He's got nothing.
I noticed that Ortolani's prison number had a C in it which doesn't make sense. Tom Fontana said that the prison number of each prisoner was the year they were sent in and the first letter of their last name (plus three other numbers he just made up) and in the case of Ryan or Cyril who have an O he went with P, the next letter in the alphabet, so Ortolani should have a P in his like Ryan, not a C.
I noticed that guys are constantly getting in each other's face so close it looks like they're gonna kiss. I know it's about intimidation but it looks kinda gay. I hope they used breath mints being that close while they talked.
Overall I'd give this episode a C.
