I just watched the remake of The Amityville Horror. Wow they really didn't stay true to the original story at all. I know the Dad went a little weird in the original but he didn't go completely over the edge and try to kill the whole family. They seemed to be ripping off The Shining instead of re-telling the story from the book. They also amped up the gore quite a bit. I find it disappointing that filmmakers do that so much now. I'm of the "what you don't see is scarier" line of thinking when it comes to horror movies. I'm old school like that.
